Welcome to the Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria (UP).

The Faculty of Education is one of the largest and most diverse faculties in South Africa for training education professionals. Our campus is self-contained and set in beautiful scenery on UP’s Groenkloof campus.

At UP, you will have access to some of the best infrastructure, libraries, laboratories, online study resources, lecturers and work opportunities in South Africa, together with a host of support services to help and guide you throughout your studies.

Our environment and culture in the Faculty is a holistic one, so we produce competent teachers of a high calibre with an in-depth knowledge of their subject fields.

The Faculty of Education at the Universtity of Pretoria (UP) strives to achieve excellence in research that is aligned to national needs and priorities. We aspire to make a substantial contribution to scientific knowledge production and the delivery of research results that have direct application to local problems.

In line with the vision of UP, we actively promote a research culture and continuously focus on building research capacity, providing sufficient resources for research and applying stringent evaluation measures, as well as the highest ethical standards to all of our research outputs.

This Faculty has firmly established itself as one of the premier facilities for education research, capacity development and productivity in Southern Africa.

The Student Counselling Centre is also an accredited training facility for Interns and Master’s students in the Counselling Psychology programme at UP.
